Linear-Time Algorithms for Testing the Realisability of Line Drawings of Curved Objects
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper shows that the semantic labelling of line drawings of curved objects with piecewise C3 surfaces is solvable in linear time. This result is robust to changes in the assumptions on object shape. When all vanishing points are known, a different linear-time algorithm exists to solve the labelling problem. Furthermore, in both cases, all legally labelled line drawings of curved objects are shown to be physically realisable. However, when some but not all of the vanishing points are known, when the drawing is an orthographic projection of a scene containing parallel lines or when we wish to minimise the number of phantom junctions, the labelling problem becomes NP-hard. The introduction of collinearity constraints also renders the labelling problem NP-complete, except in the case when all vanishing points are known. 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

Interpreting line drawings of curved objects with tangential edges and surfaces
This paper extends previous work on the interpretation of line drawings of curved objects to include objects with tangential edges and surfaces. We present a catalogue of labelled junctions and show that the existence of a legal global labelling can be determined in linear time. However, minimising the number of invisible vertices necessary to produce a legal global labelling is shown to be NPh...
متن کاملLinear constraints for the interpretation of line drawings of curved objects
Drawings of curved objects often contain many linear features: straight lines, colinear or coplanar points, parallel lines and vanishing points. These linear features give rise to linear constraints on the 3D position of scene points. The resulting problem can be solved by standard linear programming techniques. An important characteristic of this approach is that instead of making a strong ass...
متن کاملImpact of linear dimensionality reduction methods on the performance of anomaly detection algorithms in hyperspectral images
Anomaly Detection (AD) has recently become an important application of hyperspectral images analysis. The goal of these algorithms is to find the objects in the image scene which are anomalous in comparison to their surrounding background. One way to improve the performance and runtime of these algorithms is to use Dimensionality Reduction (DR) techniques. This paper evaluates the effect of thr...

This paper is a presentation of the Sweeper Robot designed in the Robotic Laboratory of Iran University of Science and Technology. The original design of this ro...
متن کاملPlanar Drawings and Angular Resolution: Algorithms and Bounds (Extended Abstract)
We investigate the problem of constructing planar straight-line drawings of graphs with large angles between the edges. Namely, we study the angular resolution of planar straight-line drawings, deened as the smallest angle formed by two incident edges. We prove the rst nontrivial upper bound on the angular resolution of planar straight-line drawings, and show a continuous trade-oo between the a...
